(Coventry, CT May 14, 2012) State Representative Tim Ackert received the unanimous endorsement from the Republican Party for the 8th Assembly District which includes Columbia, Coventry, Tolland and Vernon. Wayne English, of Coventry, nominated Tim Ackert stating, "Tim has been a strong community supporter, has worked hard for the constituents in his district and continues to work to make Connecticut a better place to live and work.”

Tim’s nomination was seconded by: Laura Bush of Vernon. Laura stated “It is an honor to second the nomination for Tim Ackert to be the Republican Candidate for the 8th house district. Tim is not only a good man in his community but he works hard for the people in his district. Personally as a teacher, Tim has been there for teachers. For the past year teachers and public education has been attacked by the governor. Tim has attended numerous meetings set up by the union and listened to teachers' concerns. He brought their concerns back to Hartford. He has helped to make positive changes to education legislation. He is a friend to public education and works hard for our state.”

Tim Ackert graciously accepted the Republican Party endorsement for the 8th District and made the following comments. “It has truly been an honor to serve the 8th District these past four years. In 2006 I ran for office because I cared about our communities and that still holds true today. I want to ensure our children have the best education opportunities available to them. I will continue to work on keeping our college graduates in Connecticut with quality job opportunities. I have and will continue to support our businesses to put our great state back to work, and I will continue to make Connecticut a better state in which to retire in.”
